Apple Keynote Summary: iPad 2, IOS 4.3, iMovie and GarageBand

Yesterday Apple held the Special Event at Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Not surprisingly Apple has introduced the new generation of iPad, accessories that go with the new version of IOS, and finally two applications already available su Mac OS X (iMovie and GareBand).What can we learn from this event? response in this summary:

As with every keynote, Steve Jobs introduced the latest figures from the firm before moving on to serious things.

• 200 million iTunes accounts (with a credit card attached)
• The sale of apps reported $ 2 billion to developers.
• 100 million iPhone sold
• iBooks: 100 million books downloaded in less than a year

In 2010, Apple sold more than 15 milion iPad. In nine years, he has not sold as many Tablet PCs.In this segment, the Apple brand has a market share of 90%. In 2010, the iPad has reported $ 9.5 billion.

iPad 2: a new design, faster and new accessories:

Apple introduced this evening iPad second generation. The new tablet is 8.8 mm thick for 600 grams against 13.2 mm and 680 grams for version 1 (and 9.3 mm for the iPhone 4). It contains two cameras, one forward and one aft.

The iPad 2 is available in two colors: black and white. The price does not change with entry-level model to $ 499. The iPad 2 will be delivered on March 11 in the United States, March 25 in most other countries  .

iOS 4.3 output for March 11

The new version of IOS, entitled iOS 4.3 arrive at the same time as the iPad 2. This update will include new features that were not included in previous betas. Indeed, IOS 4.3 will carry a redesigned Safari JavaScript engine, presented as two times faster. Only for iPhone 4, IOS 4.3 Add, too, the function Hotspot Staff.

The software side, we note the arrival of a function Home Sharing in iTunes to share files between iPad, Mac and Apple TV, and it wirelessly (via wi-fi).

iOS 4.3 shall be available for free on March 11 for the iPad, iPhone 3G / 4 3G/4G and iPod touch.

4. iMovie and GarageBand on the iPad

The iMovie application is finally iPad [ App Store link - $4.99]. It supports multiple audio tracks and editing functions more advanced than the iPhone version. iMovie AirPlay is compatible with and able to send movies over the Internet in HD to YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, CNN iReport.

The application is universal, people who have already bought iMovie iPhone will receive a free upgrade that will make it compatible for the iPad. The application will be available March 11.

GarageBand is the latest software for iPad. This editor mainstream music offers tactile virtual instruments such as piano, organ, guitar, drums and bass. The application manages 8 tracks and 250 loops. This version is compatible with the software on the Mac. Virtual instruments are included with the application.

Garageband for iPad will be available on the App Store for only $ 4.99.
