Widely used in cosmetics, clays have comforting and purification. There are different types: green clay, white clay and red clay.
White clay is particularly interesting for taking care of dry hair, sensitive scalps. It leaves your hair soft and silky and your scalp healthy.
Why adopt the white clay mask?
You have noticed that your hair, despite the various treatments you provide or that your hairdresser applies to it, is increasingly dull, dry or fragile. In short, they are in a state that makes styling difficult. Your scalp gets greasy very quickly and you would like to avoid shampooing every day (which is inadvisable anyway).
White clay can work wonders for making your hair more supple and hydrated while ridding it of impurities, including your scalp. The result: a feeling of cleanliness, without having rough and brittle hair. You benefit from the cleaning function attributed to shampoos, less aggressiveness. Of course, the white clay mask is not a substitute for washing the hair, but it can be used to supplement the hair and regulate the amount of “grease” on the scalp.
How to prepare the white clay mask
For the preparation of your white clay mask, you will need a container and a blender or a spatula, preferably wooden. Systematically avoid metallic elements that alter the virtues of clay.
The objective is to form a paste by mixing white clay with mineral water.
This paste will be applied to wet hair (preferably after shampooing), from root to tip.
To distribute the material and promote blood circulation to the scalp, you can gently massage the mask, especially at the base of your hair.
The mask can be applied to dry or oily hair. Indeed, unlike green clay which could dry out, white clay remains soft and moisturizing. Its effect on the scalp is comforting, purifying and rids it of excess sebum.
For the sake of practicality and efficiency, prefer white clay in the form of superfine powder and obtained by direct drying in the sun, therefore as naturally as possible.
After applying the paste to your hair, let it sit for 15-20 minutes (the mixture should not dry out on your hair) and rinse thoroughly with clear water. You will immediately notice the difference. Your hair is more supple, revitalized and silky. You can repeat this process once or twice a week.
Depending on the desired effect, you can add either:
- 2 or 3 drops of essential oil of lemon or thyme (to bring more vitality and promote hair growth),
- vegetable oils. Simply add a teaspoon of olive oil, sweet almond oil or castor oil to your preparation as needed.
- 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel to maximize hydration,
- a few drops of lemon juice to make the hair shine,
- honey to improve hydration and purifying effect.
Your white clay mask can be tailored to your needs without worry. Indeed, clay easily combines with other natural elements without losing its properties.
Alternative uses of white clay
If you are a fan of dry shampoos, white clay powder can be a gentle and natural alternative. Simply dust the base of your hair with an adequate amount of this powder. Then, gently rub the powder into your scalp and remove it by brushing it through your hair as you would with normal dry shampoo. That’s right!
This way of using clay can be great for soothing the scalp between washes. This trick is particularly recommended for an oily and sensitive scalp. The white clay will cleanse it by eliminating excess sebum.
White clay is also very effective in cleaning the digestive system and eliminating toxic substances. For this, the mixture of water and clay must be consumed according to a precise methodology and dosage. There are contraindications which must be taken into account. The hardening of white clay is also gradual and only continues if there are no disturbances caused by its use.
In external use, there are no contraindications to the use of white clay.
Also used for body care, white clay is a treasure of effectiveness for dry and sensitive skin. As a facial mask, anti-aging or moisturizing soap, it has a cleansing and softening effect on the skin. You can keep it as long as you want for future use.
white clay wonders
The mask remains the way in which the virtues of white clay are fully exploited in your hair. Used in powder or paste form as a mask, white clay can help regulate sebum production in the scalp. So your hair will not be too dry or too greasy. It also helps fight dandruff and even eliminate it. In general, it purifies and cleanses your scalp without attacking it.
